Sino-Belgian relations have never been better

Relations between China and Belgium have never been better. To further enhance these ties their Royal Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde will, at the invitation of China’s president Xi Jinping, visit the People’s Republic of China from June 20th till June 28th. The Royal Couple will be accompanied by the Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister-Presidents of the three Belgian Regions (Brussels, Flanders & Wallonia), around 100 CEOs of the country’s most important business leaders and the Presidents of the country’s main universities. Together they will visit Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and Shenzhen.
The high level visit comes at a time when more and more Chinese companies are discovering the way to Belgium as an investment destination attracted by its thriving hi-tech industry. Furthermore, academic relations have been growing at a spectacular pace over the past years highlighting Belgium’s worldwide reputation as an innovative hotspot. Last but not least, also people to people exchanges are soaring. Ever more Chinese students and tourists are discovering the small gem at the heart of Europe, as additional airline connections from various Chinese cities have recently been added to the longstanding and successful Beijing-Brussels route.
