Virtual Trade Mission to Hainan in China - 24 to 26 March 2021
Bart Horsten was a keynote speaker at a 3-day virtual trade mission to Hainan (China) from 24 to 26 March 2021, organized by the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) and Voka Mechelen-Kempen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).
The very diverse and valuable program has been focusing on:
- Day 1: Webinar on cross-border e-commerce
- Day 2: Virtual presentations on Hainan Free Trade Port and Hainan Expo
- Day 3: Virtual B2B Matchmaking event
This virtual trade mission gave the participants amongst others the opportunity to get in touch with the organizing staff of the China International Consumer Products Expo or Hainan Expo to be held in Hainan from 7 to 10 May 2021.
Hainan Province is set to become the largest special economic zone in China and an important node on the Maritime Silk Road, as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the island is located in the South of China, it is strategically well placed to strengthen the integration with other ASEAN countries. The overall goal is to liberalize the cross-border flows of trade, people and investment and to create a major international market which is easily accessible for foreign companies. In order to achieve this, Hainan will adopt special policies, such as lower import duties, lower company taxes, favorable personal income taxes and less strict visa requirements for tourists and business people.
During the event, different business people could discover the Hainan region and the opportunities of Hainan Expo for boosting their international business? They were also informed about cross-border e-commerce and how to market their products in China?
