Agricultural Trade Mission to China from 4 to 10 September 2016
Jeffrey Wouters, Business Development Manager of Horsten International will take part in an agricultural trade mission to China from 4 to 10 september 2016. The trade mission is organized by the province of Antwerp and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) and is specifically focusing on opportunities in China for companies in the agro-industry. During this mission about 25 entrepeneurs and officials will visit Beijing, Shaanxi and Shanghai.
As a preparation for this trade mission, Bart Horsten, managing director of Horsten International gave a lecture on 2 May 2016 about the opportunities in China, in particular in the agricultural industry. In the past 10 years Horsten International has successfully helped several Belgian companies in the agricultural sector to set up their business in China.
Horsten's office in China was set up in 2001 in Xi'an, capital city of the Shaanxi Province. The province of Antwerp has already more than 30 years of cooperation with the province of Shaanxi, thanks to the start of a joint venture of Janssen Pharmaceutica in 1985. Bart’s father Joos Horsten went to China for the first time in 1979 as Vice-President International of Janssen Pharmaceutica. He is considered to be one of the first China pioneers in Belgium and the founding father of Xi’an Janssen Pharmaceutical – the successful Sino-Belgian joint venture of Janssen Pharmaceutica. Consequently Horsten International has an extensive network available for companies in the agricultural and other industries.
